Shopping Holiday

Today was Korean Independence Day, a national holiday but that doesn't mean at all that shops are closed or anything, so we decided to have a nice shopping day. Before heading out to Itaewon though we had lunch in one of the many restaurants close to Hanyang university main gate.

Flying Fish Roe Rice
When ordering the dish you can decide between four different spiciness-levels. My friends both took the not-spicy-at-all level but I decided to be brave and try the variant which is one step up the spicy-ladder. It wasn't too bad and before I leave I want to be strong enough to be able to at least try the highest spiciness-level (without dying and bodily harm). If Koreans say the food is spicy it is DAMN spicy! So beware, try on your own risk :)

Afterwards we went to Itaewon, a district where many foreigners and tourists go to do some shopping. Usually it's a rip-off there and I prefer going to other places with less tourists and less rip-off. We followed the instructions of some other exchange students who had been to Itaewon the day before and found our way through some small streets to a sleazy mobile phone shop. It is quite complicated for foreigners to get a mobile phone in Korea but in this shop it wasn't a problem at all. We didn't even need an alien registration card, just our passports and some money (not sure if the shop is really legal, but whatever...). Anyways, my mobile phone is working and I even sent and received my first text messages with it :) Now I feel like a complete person again. In Korea you are really a nobody if you don't have a mobile phone!
Afterwards we went to Kangnam and I showed my friends the Kyobo bookstore where I had been a few days before. Didn't buy anything today though because I think I will have to buy some books for my university classes this week anyways. Oh, and we went to Krispy Kreme (again):

This, Ladies and Gentlemen, is the Krispy Kreme Cheesecake Donut
One of my next priorities is to find a gym which is close to the dorm so I can start doing some sports and burn all those calories again!!
We also went to a Kinky Robot shop and I made the mistake to go into the Artbox-Shop again. I don't know how I will get all that stuff back to Germany! There was also a Daiso shop on our way. Daiso shops are very handy: they have tons of stuff for really cheap prices. You can find nearly all kinds of daily-living supplies there (for the bathroom, kitchen, stationary, etc.). I bought some cutlery (including chopsticks of course) and an airtight box for my food (I'm somehow scared that food laying around might attract insects to our dorm room and I soo much really don't want that). All that shopping made us hungry again and we shared a huge vegetarian pizza for dinner.

Mr. Pizza pizza
The Mr. Pizza restaurant has a very interesting slogan: "Love for Women". Hmm, I don't know what this is supposed to mean. Mr. Pizza pizza is only for women? Wrong, there were also guys in the restaurant. They make Mr. Pizza pizza with an extra-portion of love if women order them? Haha, I really hope not ;)

Somehow I'm only blogging about food, sorry about that. Korean food is just sooooooooo delicious. Tomorrow my university classes start so I will (probably) also write about other stuff ;)
